Winter is coming.

While in the midst of summer I’m already looking forward to spending the winter in Sweden again. I cannot hide my love for the Northern European countries, I love the freedom in summer, the overwhelming solitude of nature there. The feeling of becoming bewildered again after a month or more of outdoor life. But I’ve come to love winters too. The short days with massive blue skies and and the low sunlight give it a constant magical feeling. The cosy heat of the cabin with a warm fire, the fresh air when out and about, …
Adventuring in winterland is so beautiful.

Ardennes to the rescue

…or was it “The great escape to the Ardennes“…
We were up for a quick getaway. As mentioned earlier we decided not to leave Belgium for leisure & pleasure but we needed to get out!
So we decided to go out for a short weekend, in between jobs, with the trailer to a camping in the Ardennes which has near wild camping experience. Never been there but having no other option we took our chances and see how it would turn out. We were very much in need of a short break.

That turned out to be a very nice location and the experience was excellent. We set up camp far away from the camping and we had the river, the riverbank to our selves. Oh Murphy

“Expect the unexpected” they say!
I suppose it wasn’t meant to happen just on your driveway!

Riding like this on soft sand and slow speeds is no issue.
But with these extreme high temperatures and high speed on the motorway,
thats a recipe for a blowout.
So changed it out of precaution. Better safe than sorry.

It takes my pain away

We decided this year to stay at home during the summer holidays.
As we both are independent, being a photographer & director myself and my girlfriend a marketeer, we needed to catch up on the work we lost in spring due to Covid.
Also, I don’t believe that travelling abroad when a virus is spreading the world, is a bright idea. Even if you, like us are the sole living soul in the area, people should stay in their own surroundings limiting the contacts they can make. Out of responsibility.
Last but not least, traveling for me is about freedom. Having to check the news every day to see wether we are obliged to be quarantined when we get back or entering a restricted country… that is not my idea of traveling. I can also not afford to stay quarantined.
So we decided to at least postpone our journeys and see what the tide of time will give us. As said, being independent also enables us to travel whenever we like. So when everybody is back to his daily business in September or October, we’ll be heading for the horizon again.
