It’s been a while since I’ve done a hike. Having an 8 month old “puppy” at home is the main reason for that. And it’s just a matter of months and he’ll be up and running for decent hikes! Very much looking forward to that!
Anyway, today me and a friend did a hike we planned a few weeks ago. When I woke up this morning all of Belgium & The Netherlands were covered in a, for our standards, a thick layer of snow. That would definitely give some extra flair to our hike.
The road to the starting point was a bit of a challenge because of the snow, but my car is perfectly suited for those conditions. 4×4 high gear and up & away!
“Toi et Moi” – Just the two of us. Yesterday, we dropped our second girl at some kind of Circus/adventure camp so we were very keen to head out to the Ardennes for a little hike today. I had this 17km hike ready to play in my card deck for quite a while and today seemed like the perfect time to do it. Excellent weather, sunny with a touch of clouds and a refreshing wind every once and while.
A little throwback to the “Daktenten festival 2019” or “Roof top tent festival 2019” In Schipborg where I was interviewed about my setup and how we travel. Here’s my outtake of the video. (The full report can be viewed here.)
All tough most of the people visiting the Daktent festival are loners and tend to go out and explore alone or with the family, such gatherings are a great opportunity for us to meet equally minded people. Talking about our adventures, plans, experiences, get new ideas and do some gear-talk and just hang around the fire! I’m really looking forward to both the Dutch & Belgian edition this year. I’ve met awesome people there and really looking forward to meet up again!
I sincerely hope that the Corona crisis won’t interfere with these plans!
We didn’t made it to Scotland but went to Portugal instead, you can see how we used the offroad trailer on vacation, without the kids this time! (yay!)
